Introducing Adele...

"As soon as I heard about the building I put my name on the list. I wanted Yiddishkeit. I wanted to be with my own people. And I got it. The people here are just wonderful. We have a terrific group."

Adele's family hails from Poland and the Ukraine. She was born and grew up in Elizabeth, NJ where she met her husband, Sy, at a Junior Hadassah event. They were married in 1942 and had 55 years of happiness together. They made their home in Union, NJ for 37 years where they raised their two sons. Adele is the proud grandmother of 4 girls and 3 boys.

Adele moved into Lester Housing when the building opened. Her proudest moment since moving in occurred on 12/7/02, when she was Bat Mitvahed. She worked for many months on the project with the help of several members of the Lester Family. Her Bat Mitzvah was well attended with guests coming from all over.

Adele is involved in many Lester activities. She is involved in:

Adele is also responsible for Bingo. She along with a partner run the games every Wednesday night. Typically over 40 residents attend. Adele's job is calling the numbers, a job she really enjoys. Also, she arranges 2 trips per month, going to plays, dinners, and theatre, etc.
